Full setup — about two minutes, once

1. Pick your build. Apple Silicon (M1 and later) or Intel — the two macOS tiles above. Not sure which? Apple menu → About This Mac: a chip that says “Apple M…” is Apple Silicon; “Intel” is Intel.
2. Install into Applications. Open the downloaded .dmg, drag the AcePilot icon onto the Applications folder, then eject the disk image. Always open AcePilot from Applications — never from the disk image, Desktop, or Downloads. Running it from those places is exactly what makes Screen Recording show “denied.”
3. Open it the first time. In Applications, double-click AcePilot. If macOS says “Apple could not verify…”, click Done — not “Move to Bin”. Then Apple menu → System Settings → Privacy & Security → scroll down → Open Anyway → confirm with your Mac password.
4. Grant permissions. Click Start Listening in the app. macOS asks for Screen Recording and Microphone — allow both. Screen Recording is used only to hear the interviewer’s audio; AcePilot never uploads or views your screen.
5. Quit and reopen. Press ⌘Q, then open AcePilot again from Applications. Screen Recording only activates after this restart — after it, the permission sticks across every future update.
6. Sign in with your account. You’re ready.

If Screen Recording still says “denied” it means the app is being run from the disk image or Downloads. Move it to Applications, then in System Settings → Privacy & Security → Screen Recording remove any old “AcePilot” entry with the “–” and repeat step 4. Power-user shortcut to skip the first-launch warning: Terminal → xattr -cr /Applications/AcePilot.app.

1. Pick your build. 64-bit suits almost every modern PC; 32-bit is only for older machines — the two Windows tiles above. Not sure? Settings → System → About shows your system type.
2. Run the installer. Double-click the downloaded .exe. If SmartScreen shows “Windows protected your PC”, click More info → Run anyway — this only appears because the build is new, not because anything is wrong. Follow the prompts to finish.
3. Open AcePilot from the Start menu or the desktop shortcut it creates.
4. Allow the microphone if Windows asks. Windows does not need a separate screen-recording permission the way macOS does, so there’s nothing else to grant.
5. Sign in with your account. You’re ready.

If the installer won’t start, right-click the .exe → Run as administrator. If your antivirus quarantines it, allow it once — it is a new, unsigned-by-Microsoft build, not malware.
